Marvel vs. Capcom 2 came out in 2000, and quickly became known as one of the greatest fighters ever made.. for the 1% of people who knew how to play the damn thing. Everyone else (myself included) was like, "WTF?" Capcom recently announced MvC3 exactly ten years later. So what's the deal? Is Capcom just a bunch of idiots?

Well for most cases the answer would be obviously. Apparently Activision has had the rights to the Marvel characters for the past ten years, however, for whatever reason, they decided not renew their license1. And so Marvel vs. Capcom 3

The trailer confirms three characters from  Marvel (Iron Man, Wolverine, and the Hulk) and three from Capcom (Ryu, some pixie thing, and Chris Redfield - where did he come from?!). No gameplay footage yet, so only time will tell if this iteration will also require the reaction time of a gnat.

1: Of course, letting go of the licence when there's like a million Marvel movies being filmed right now might not seem like the most sound business strategy, but what do you expect from the guys that made Modern Warfare 2 bad?
